Comais was born in 1972 and became part of the Etex Group in 1996.
Comais is dedicated to the manufacturing of products based on hydrous calcium silicate suitable for use in thermal insulation and fire protection.

Since the beginning Comais has characterized its production of products in calcium silicate for thermal insulation and fire protection with the principle, which will be always followed, of fully answering to clients' expectations. Clients' request, specifically regarding quality of materials, security, environment friendliness, must be not only satisfied, but also sustained by a corporate management, which can guarantee full comprehension and constant respect.

The quality of service, as we see it, means working by fully preserving the environment, and producing materials with security and reliability characteristics, inside a healty and safe working environment.

For these reasons the management has decided to chose management systems for quality, environment and security as a fundamental lever for our success; these systems need everybody to follow these common principles:

• the principle of continuos improvement, appliable to processes, management systems, and accordingly to the environment and to the Security and Health at Work (S&HW);
• prevention of potential lack of compliance with all risks related to S&HW and pollution;
• commitment to scrupulously respect environmental laws and S&HW;
• involvement and commitment by all corporate parts to pursue Quality, respect for the natural environment and S&HW.

Comais management is persuaded that by applying these principles represents the foundation to guarantie high growth rates and assure real competitiveness on the market. To this end, then, Comais intends:

• to constantly verify work methods and operative procedures to prevent clients dissatisfaction and non-compliance, if they are either process or product issues;
• to achieve further decrease of power consumption and waste water to limit environmental impacts;
• to minimize, and to remove where possible, all risks linked to our productive processes and, specially all mechanical and noise related risks;
• to identify and achieve all possible targets of innovation and continous improvement of quality, environment friendliness and S&HW;
• to activate and maintain a reliable and complete system to find all needed data to handle our integrated management system and, based on this, to carry out a complete and reliable monitoring program;
• to promote identification by the employees with our policy of quality, environment and security and sharing of our objectives, promoting education, awareness of the role everybody has and individual responsibleness; to guarantee and develop effective and two-ways communications with all employees and employee delegations;
• to achieve the attainment of all quality objectives with high economic efficiency;
• to devise and refine security plans containing all measures and procedures needed to prevent accidents or emergency and to constrain their effects;
• to maintain open communications with all suppliers, so that they can work following the above stated policy too;
• to perform checks, inspections and audits to identify and prevent non-compliance circumstances with the referenced management systems;
• to develop and maintain open and cooperative relationships with local authorities and all involved parties;
• generally, to develop and constantly improve our management, starting with the voluntary regulations UNI EN ISO 9001, UNI EN ISO 14001 e OHSAS 18001.

Quality, environment and S&HW manuals represent the formalization of this will and the operative guide for the application of our management systems.

Every year, when reviewing management, new targets for the following year get defined and communicated to all Comais employees and formalized in a document named 'improvement program'.
